[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 15th, the People Power Party published a white paper on the corruption of 'Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo' and called for his resignation.
The White Paper Promotion Committee on Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo's Corruption released a white paper titled 'The Fall of the Rule of Law' and held a press conference on the same day.
Floor Leader Kim Ki-hyun said, "Although questions regarding the impeachment deal involving Chief Justice Kim remain unresolved, considering the many pieces of evidence and the contents of the white paper, it is impossible to deny the strong likelihood of a backdoor deal," adding, "I am confident that there will be an opportunity to conduct a full-scale investigation with investigative authority on this matter in the future."
The People Power Party has been holding one-person protests in front of the Supreme Court since February 8 of this year. Floor Leader Kim said, "Chief Justice Kim politicized the judiciary, refused to accept the resignation requests of junior judges, pushed them into the swamp of impeachment, and consistently responded with false explanations claiming there was no political consideration."
He also mentioned recent media reports concerning the Chief Justice's official residence. Floor Leader Kim stated, "He is also facing criticism for his son and daughter-in-law's private use of the official residence, which is operated with taxpayers' money, for real estate speculation," and added, "It was recently revealed again that the legal team of Hanjin, to which the Chief Justice's daughter-in-law belongs as a lawyer, held a dinner at the Chief Justice's official residence."
Floor Leader Kim emphasized, "The People Power Party will lead the effort to restore the judiciary together with the people until Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo resigns."
Yoo Sang-beom, a member of the National Assembly and chairman of the White Paper Promotion Committee on Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo's Corruption, said, "The conscience-paralyzed, lying Pinocchio Chief Justice's various corruptions and truths will be recorded as a truly shameful history for future generations," adding, "Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo stepping down voluntarily is the least he can do to atone to the wounded people."
