NST, Online Application Submission from 15th to 30th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The National Science and Technology Council (NST) announced on the 15th that it will conduct the second joint recruitment of government-funded research institutes (GFRIs) in the science and technology sector for 2021.
Since last year, GFRIs have been conducting joint recruitment to expand practical employment opportunities for job seekers and reduce administrative burdens on the institutes. NST selects candidates through an NCS-based integrated written exam, after which the GFRIs conduct additional procedures such as interviews to select the final successful candidates.
In the first joint recruitment conducted in March, 7,175 applicants competed for 245 positions, recording a competition rate of about 133 to 1 for administrative positions.
This second joint recruitment involves 12 GFRIs. Specifically, they are the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Korea Basic Science Institute, Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, Korea Institute of Energy Research, and Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute.
A total of 125 positions will be filled, including 41 administrative positions and 84 research positions. Applications will be accepted online for 16 days from the 15th to the 30th. The integrated written exam, composed of the National Competency Standards (NCS) basic vocational competency evaluation, will be held on the 17th of next month in three locations: Seoul, Daejeon, and Busan.
NST plans to strictly adhere to management guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including disinfecting exam venues, checking applicants' temperatures and encouraging hand sanitizer use, ensuring safe distances between applicants, and operating separate exam rooms for those showing COVID-19 symptoms.
