[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Polaris Office, a specialist in office software, is strengthening its domestic market strategy through strategic collaboration with Dropbox, a global cloud service company with over 700 million users worldwide.
On the 15th, Polaris Office announced that it will provide the ‘Polaris Office Web Hangeul’ service on Dropbox. Now, Dropbox users can view HWP (Hangul Word Processor) files directly on the Dropbox platform without any separate installation. Previewing is possible even in environments where the Hangeul viewer program is not installed.
This is the first time Dropbox supports HWP documents within its environment. ‘Polaris Office Web Hangeul’ is the only service that supports the HWP document format within Dropbox. By following the instructions on the Polaris Office website or the domestic Dropbox website, users can connect once and use Polaris Office Web Hangeul directly from Dropbox.
Polaris Office and Dropbox, both globally recognized in office software and cloud services, plan to expand support to include HWP document editing, file storage within Dropbox, and link sharing to enhance convenience for cloud-based document work essential for remote work.
A Polaris Office representative said, “We are pleased to provide a higher level of convenience to domestic Dropbox users through the ‘Polaris Office Web Hangeul’ service,” adding, “Now, not only MS Office documents but also HWP documents can be easily used within the Dropbox web service, which will be especially helpful for domestic corporate clients such as public institutions and educational organizations that primarily use the HWP document format.”
They continued, “Based on a close cooperative system with the global cloud service Dropbox, we plan to proactively respond to the needs of both the domestic and global markets.”
Meanwhile, since the launch of the Polaris Group last March, Polaris Office, Polaris Works, Sewon, and Uno & Company have established an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management system and are actively pursuing new growth engines. The group aims to maximize synergy effects and improve management efficiency through close cooperation among affiliated companies.
