[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] The family of Air Force Staff Sergeant Lee, who made an extreme choice after reporting sexual harassment, is undergoing a closed-door witness investigation. This is the first time the family has been questioned as witnesses since the case was transferred to the Ministry of National Defense prosecution team on the 1st.
Kim Jeong-hwan, the family's lawyer, stated that although Sergeant Lee's parents originally planned to appear as witnesses at the Ministry of National Defense prosecution team in the afternoon, due to the mother's health issues, the investigation will be conducted privately at the Armed Forces Capital Hospital on the 15th.
The family is expected to provide detailed testimony regarding the sexual harassment and secondary victimization of Sergeant Lee during his lifetime, as well as allegations that Sergeant No, separate from this case, had directly sexually harassed Sergeant Lee in the past.
The family claims that Sergeant Lee was also sexually harassed about a year before this incident by another non-commissioned officer who was dispatched, and that Sergeant No attempted to persuade and conceal the matter at that time as well.
Additionally, the family is anticipated to repeatedly request the prosecution team to actively investigate allegations of dereliction of duty by the court-appointed defense attorney designated by the Air Force Legal Office at the early stage of the case.
