[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is holding a short film contest until August 31st to host the '1st Geumcheon Fashion Film Festival.'
The 'Geumcheon Fashion Film Festival,' held for the first time this year, is attracting attention as the first fashion-themed film festival attempted in Korea. The district aims to develop the fashion industry, a regionally specialized industry, into new cultural industry content through convergence with the video culture industry.
Submissions for short films under 25 minutes will be accepted from June 15th to August 31st in the form of a contest. After preliminary screening, the finalists will be announced on September 28th.
The screening event is planned to be held from November 5th to 7th at Lotte Cinema Gasan Digital Branch.
Films using fashion as a subject, theme, or background can be submitted regardless of genre or format, including feature films, documentaries, and animations. Advertising films are also being accepted, which is expected to enrich the content of the festival.
Meanwhile, more than 1,000 clothing manufacturing companies are concentrated in the district, producing high-quality garments.
Additionally, the G-Valley in Geumcheon-gu has formed a clothing outlet complex, recognized as the fashion industry hub of the southwestern Seoul area.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Through this film festival, we aim to re-highlight Geumcheon-gu's specialized fashion and clothing industry and promote its excellence not only domestically but worldwide." He added, "We hope many cultural industry stakeholders will participate in this festival, which attempts to create new value by combining the fashion industry and video culture."
