[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Kim Jae-won, Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, emphasized the role of the Supreme Council meeting and issued a warning against party affairs being led solely by the party leader.

On the 14th, Kim, at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, said, "I would like to say one thing to fulfill the duties of a Supreme Council member," emphasizing the importance of the Supreme Council's role.

He introduced, "In the past, most political parties operated in a highly disciplined manner under the party chairman," adding, "In such cases, party leadership was well managed, but there were countless instances where the party was ruined due to minor mistakes by the chairman." He continued, "With demands for intra-party democracy during the era of the imperial chairman, the floor leader replaced the parliamentary chief, the party chairman changed to the party leader, and the Supreme Council was introduced."

Kim further stated, "The role of the Supreme Council is to oversee party affairs within the party, assist and support the leader, and at the same time, exercise the collective intelligence of the Supreme Council to rationalize the unilateral operation of the party," adding, "Going forward, the Supreme Council should become the center of the party and the core of party affairs decision-making," and "That way, it can function as a place that works better and demonstrates collective intelligence together."

Kim said, "If many matters that need to be discussed or decided in the Supreme Council are all disclosed in advance and already announced, the Supreme Council could effectively become a hollow shell and fail to perform any role," adding, "I understand this is the early stage and it is inevitable, but I ask that the party also pay attention to the status of the Supreme Council in the future."
