Pharmaceutical microneedle company Terazeg Asia announced that on the 11th, it signed a technology introduction contract for wild ginseng bio-innovation with Professor Seung-Young Kim of the Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at Sunmoon University, and provided research funding worth 20 million KRW to apply domestically produced natural medicinal herb microneedles currently under study.
With this, Terazeg Asia stated that in addition to the 100 million KRW commissioned research currently underway with Professor Kim’s team for the development of bio-innovation materials related to Korean native plants, it will additionally proceed with the introduction of bio-innovation technology aiming at the globalization of domestically produced wild ginseng.
The bio-innovation technology, based on eco-friendly process technology, is a safe bio-conversion technology introduced domestically by Professor Seung-Young Kim through research at the University of Tokyo that reduces cytotoxicity, a problem of natural medicinal herbs, while expressing effective components with desired effects.
Terazeg Asia CEO Kyung-Dong Kim said, “During the difficult times of COVID-19, we introduced the latest soluble microneedle research and production equipment through support from industry-academia-research collaboration, and secured patents for needle quantification and standardization. Without this support, the exclusive worldwide pharmaceutical microneedle license and patented technology that the company had secured with difficulty in 2019 would have gone back overseas.”
He also stated, “Now that microneedle technology has been standardized, the effectiveness and application methods of the active ingredients to be contained are important issues, and investment in material research is required. Our company will provide its microneedle system to companies with excellent materials and contribute to Korea continuing to lead the global market in the pharmaceutical needle patch field through joint research.”
