[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A man in his early 20s was found dead naked in an officetel in Mapo-gu, Seoul, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the police on the 14th, the Seoul Mapo Police Station responded to a report from a man identified as B, who claimed to be a friend of the deceased A, around 6 a.m. the previous day. They arrived at an officetel located in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and confirmed A's death.
The police urgently arrested B, who reportedly lived in the same officetel, and another man, C, on charges of confinement resulting in death. Subsequently, the National Forensic Service conducted an autopsy and provided a preliminary verbal opinion stating that "no external wounds sufficient to cause death were found."
The police decided it was necessary to investigate the circumstances of A's death and whether there were any charges against the two men, and thus formally booked them.
A police official stated, "We will thoroughly investigate the exact cause of death and strictly handle the two individuals if there is any evidence of wrongdoing." He added, "Charges may be changed depending on the investigation results, and we may consider applying for an arrest warrant."
