Seoul City Collaborates with 'Iumpium Sewing History Museum'... Exhibition from July 15 to August 15
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chonnam National University Museum announced on the 14th that it will present the exhibition "Pioneer of Domestic Three-Dimensional Patterns, Korea Master Seowan Seok 展" at the 2nd floor special exhibition hall from the 15th to August 15th.
This exhibition is being held in collaboration with the "EumPium Sewing History Museum," Seoul's first urban regeneration facility.
The EumPium Sewing History Museum is the only sewing history museum in Korea, located in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is known as a historical and cultural space that views the history of the sewing industry from various perspectives and is used as a popular spot by citizens.
This exhibition was a special exhibition held at the EumPium Sewing History Museum from October 20th last year to the 30th of last month, receiving favorable reviews from the public. While planning an external touring exhibition, the first touring exhibition was held at Chonnam National University Museum.
It was planned to raise awareness of the importance of the role of the modelist and to suggest the direction the domestic fashion industry should take.
Seowan Seok, the modelist who was the first in the domestic tailored clothing sector to be selected as a Korea Master, has contributed to promoting and revitalizing three-dimensional patterns by establishing the Three-Dimensional Pattern Research Institute since the 1980s.
In 1997, he attracted industry attention by exhibiting a pattern reproduction work of Madeleine Vionnet at the first "Fashion Week" exhibition. Also, in 2013, he became the first pattern maker to receive the "Pattern Group Grand Prize" established by the World Fashion Group Korea Association.
"Pioneer of Domestic Three-Dimensional Patterns, Korea Master Seowan Seok 展" shows the story of how modelist Seowan Seok, who focused on making clothes, ultimately became a master in the field of three-dimensional patterns and his active work in the field despite numerous difficulties without giving up.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the first external exhibition of the EumPium Sewing History Museum, the museum plans to give away the "2021 EumPium Day Calendar" on a first-come, first-served basis to exhibition visitors who come to Chonnam National University Museum.
