Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to Hold Contest from June 16 to August 16
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family is conducting the ‘Youth Online Policy Proposal Contest’ to hear directly from youth about the policies they need.
The contest will be held from the 16th of this month to August 16th. This contest was organized to open the participation channel of the 2021 Youth Special Assembly, launched last May, not only to the assembly members but also to the general youth.
Eligibility is individuals or groups aged 9 to 24. Participants can propose various youth policies under the theme ‘Fairness as Told by Youth.’ Applications and policy proposals can be submitted through the Youth Participation Portal.
The proposals will undergo a two-stage review process including public sympathy voting and expert evaluation. One team will receive the Grand Prize, awarded by the Minister of Gender Equality and Family along with a prize of 500,000 KRW, and two teams will receive the Excellence Award, given by the Director of the Korea Youth Work Agency along with a prize of 300,000 KRW. Proposals that receive more than 50 votes in the public sympathy voting will be discussed as agenda items in the assembly. Participants will also be randomly selected to receive mobile gift certificates.
Choi Sung-yoo, Youth Policy Officer at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, said, "Through this contest, we expect to glimpse the free and fresh ideas of youth," adding, "We will actively strive to establish policies that youth can truly feel in their daily lives. We hope for active participation from young people."
