[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Jeong Jong-sun) announced on the 14th that as of the 10th, 14,390 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, accounting for 39% of the total target population (37,177 people).


This rate is 1.9 times higher than the national average first-dose vaccination rate of 20.6%, and 4,629 people have completed the second dose.


Among those aged 75 and older, 5,799 have received the first dose, with a vaccination rate of 98% based on those who consented to vaccination, and 4,155 have received the second dose, a rate of 69%. The plan is to complete vaccinations by the 30th of this month.


First responders such as nursing hospitals, nursing facilities, and essential social workers receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine also show a high vaccination rate of 96%. Since the 27th of last month, AstraZeneca vaccinations have started for the elderly aged 60 to 74 through 18 designated medical institutions. The reservation rate is 87%, demonstrating the residents' active willingness to participate in vaccination.


In Jangheung-gun, to ensure safe vaccinations and increase vaccination rates, transportation convenience has been provided for elderly seniors' mobility, and masks have been distributed to promote COVID-19 prevention guidelines.


Additionally, village representatives were designated to monitor adverse reactions for three days after vaccination, and moving forward, badges will be produced and distributed to those who complete vaccination as an incentive.


Governor Jeong Jong-sun said, “I thank all the residents who actively participated in COVID-19 prevention and vaccination,” and added, “We will do our best to help all residents return to a happy daily life.”
