"EXO in VR" LG Uplus Unveils 'EXO Online Exhibition Hall' on U+VR

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 14th that starting from the 15th, it will open its ‘U+VR’ platform, which holds over 2,100 virtual reality (VR) contents, for free and unveil the online exhibition hall 'XR Gallery' of the idol group EXO. Customers, regardless of their mobile carrier, will be able to check out EXO’s unreleased photos, videos, audio, and handwritten notes in the virtual exhibition space.

The newly introduced EXO online exhibition hall incorporates the concept of a ‘metaverse,’ allowing users to move freely to desired spaces within the virtual reality environment beyond simply watching VR videos. It consists of six themed halls and a lobby: ▲Hall 1: Planet Explosion ▲Hall 2: Emergency Landing ▲Hall 3: Helicarrier ▲Hall 4: Space Party Venue ▲Hall 5: Attic ▲Hall 6: For EXO-L, enabling visitors to freely navigate these diverse spaces as if visiting an offline exhibition.

Through this, customers can view about 400 unreleased images and approximately 10 unreleased videos. Various contents such as EXO’s opening and closing videos, voice guidance modeled with AI voice synthesis technology (TTS) by member D.O., and handwritten notes by members Xiumin, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, and Sehun can be experienced within the VR space.

In the lobby, visitors can watch an introduction video and images of the exhibition and access SM Entertainment’s official online store. Hall 1 features effects of planetary explosions and falling debris in space, while Hall 2 showcases jacket images through planet-themed spaces for each member. Halls 3 and 4 display album concept photos inside a spaceship and party-themed images representing overcoming hardships in vast outer space, respectively. The bonus Hall 5 is designed as a warm room where customers can enjoy EXO’s unreleased photos. Lastly, Hall 6, styled as an art gallery, allows customers to collect photos featuring handwritten notes.

LG Uplus will also operate an offline space where customers can experience the content. From the 19th to the 28th, customers can visit the complex cultural space ‘Ilsang Bi Ilsang-ui Teum’ in Gangnam, Seoul, to experience EXO’s XR Gallery and VR entertainment content specially arranged for this special album. A program offering special EXO photo cards will be available for customers who make advance reservations. Additionally, a ‘Emergency Landing Event’ will be held, giving various gifts to customers who use the online exhibition hall. Detailed information will be provided through the official SNS of the XR Gallery.

Choi Yoonho, Head of XR Services at LG Uplus (Executive Director), said, “The scope of immersive content on U+VR is continuously expanding beyond artists’ non-face-to-face performances and fan meetings to include online exhibition halls. We hope to alleviate fans’ thirst by introducing exhibition halls of various artists through ongoing collaboration with entertainment companies.”
