[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Dongwon F&B announced on the 14th that it is launching a tuna can product using kimchi called ‘Dongwon Kimchi Tuna’ and is targeting overseas markets.
‘Dongwon Kimchi Tuna’ is a tuna can product made with kimchi and tuna meat, featuring kimchi tuna stir-fry that can be eaten immediately. It is a small-sized 90g product suitable for single-person households. ‘Dongwon Kimchi Tuna’ can be stir-fried with rice to make kimchi tuna fried rice, served alongside pan-fried tofu, or used as a topping for cold noodles in summer.
Dongwon F&B plans to capture the taste of overseas consumers with ‘Dongwon Kimchi Tuna,’ inspired by the recent surge in popularity of kimchi worldwide due to the K-food wave. The product will obtain halal certification to target the Southeast Asian market and will be exported to various countries overseas, including the Americas.
A Dongwon F&B official said, “Interest in K-food in overseas markets has been steadily increasing recently, and various Korean foods including kimchi are attracting foreign consumers’ attention. We will continue to introduce products that both domestic consumers and foreigners can enjoy deliciously, strengthening our competitiveness in overseas markets.”
