Next-Generation Galaxy Z Series and Galaxy Watch4... Will They Be Unveiled on August 3? Samsung Electronics 'Galaxy Z Fold3' Expected Image

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Electronics' next-generation foldable smartphones, the 'Galaxy Z Fold3' and 'Galaxy Z Flip3,' along with the smartwatch series 'Galaxy Watch4,' are expected to be unveiled on August 3.

On the 13th (local time), IT specialized media PhoneArena and SamMobile, citing famous IT tipster Max Weinbach, reported that Samsung Electronics will hold an Unpacked event on August 3 to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. Furthermore, Max Weinbach predicted that at the same Unpacked event, Samsung will also unveil the new foldable phones, the Galaxy Watch4, 'Galaxy Watch Active4,' and the wireless earbuds 'Galaxy Buds2.'

Speculation about the release schedule has also emerged. Previously, another IT tipster John Prosser reported through 'Front Page Tech' that the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 are scheduled for release on August 27, while the two models of the Galaxy Watch4 series will be released on August 11. In summary, it is expected that the new products will be unveiled at the early August Unpacked event, followed by pre-orders, and official sales will begin at the end of August.

There is also a forecast that both the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 will be up to 20% cheaper than their predecessors. PhoneArena estimated the US retail price of the Galaxy Z Fold3 to be $1,599 (approximately 1,786,000 KRW) and the Galaxy Z Flip3 to be $959 (approximately 1,071,000 KRW). This is significantly lower compared to last year's Galaxy Z Fold2 US retail price ($1,999, approximately 2,232,000 KRW) and domestic retail price (2,398,000 KRW).

Samsung Electronics appears to be intensifying its strategy to popularize foldable smartphones through a more affordable pricing policy than previous models. SamMobile explained, "Samsung Electronics does not plan to release the Galaxy Note series this year," adding, "The reason for pricing the foldable phones cheaper than their predecessors is because most of the sales in the high-end segment smartphones will rely on these two foldable models." Generally, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Note series as a strategic smartphone in the second half of August, but this year, no new Galaxy Note will be released.
