[Asia Economy Golf Specialist Reporter Kim Hyun-jun] "5 under par in 8 holes."

It is Taehoon Lee (Canada)'s 'storm shot.' On the 11th, at the Pynx Golf Club in Seogwipo, Jeju Island (par 71, 7,316 yards), the second day of the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) SK Telecom Open (total prize money 1.2 billion KRW) resumed, and he surged 5 under par to leap to the lead by one stroke (6 under par). He saved par on all six remaining holes of the first round, and in the second round, he started at the 10th hole (par 4) and played through the 17th hole (par 3). He made four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15, followed by another birdie on the 17th hole.

Taehoon Lee is the 2017 Shinhan Donghae Open champion. At that time, the five-year Korean Tour card became a turning point in his golf career. After changing clubs in 2018 and falling into a slump, he made a brilliant comeback by winning the DB Insurance Promy Open in April 2019. He has been on the rise recently, with a runner-up finish at the Shinhan Donghae Open last September and the Descente Korea Munsingwear Match Play, which ended on the 6th of this month. The remaining rounds of the second day have become even more crucial.

The '19-year-old young gun' Juhyung Kim (CJ Logistics) added 1 under par over 11 holes today after shooting 4 under par on the first day, chasing in second place (5 under par). Jaeho Kim (39) is in third place (3 under par). Taehee Lee (37) is in fourth place (2 under par), yet to start the second round. First in the prize money rankings, Inhoe Heo (34), and 2019 champion Jungwoo Ham (27, Hana Financial Group) are also tied for 20th place (1 over par), looking forward to the next day. The schedule was disrupted due to continued bad weather on the second day.
