Three Middle School Girls Arrested by Police After 'Crash' While Driving Parents' Car at Dawn

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Middle school girls who secretly took their parents' car during the early morning hours and caused an accident while driving have been apprehended by the police.

The Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul announced on the 11th that they have arrested and are investigating three middle school girls, including A (14), on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (unlicensed driving) and other offenses.

According to the police, around 1 a.m. the previous day, A and two friends were driving a car when they collided with another vehicle on a road in Gwangjin-gu and fled the scene. The police responded to the report and caught them near Gunja Station, about 3 to 4 km from the accident site.

It was found that A and the others had secretly taken one of their parents' cars and drove from Dongdaemun-gu to Gwangjin-gu.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident with them.
