Gangdong Life Culture Center 'Yegam' (藝感) Operation

Gangdong Life Culture Center 'Yegam' (藝感) Operation

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) announced that it is operating the Gangdong Life Culture Center 'Yegam (藝感)', a cultural and artistic hub space that realizes the revitalization of local culture through art, on Gucheonmyeon-ro.

Gangdong Life Culture Center Yegam (藝感) is the first life culture center established in Gangdong-gu. The second floor serves as a community meeting space for local artists and the activation of life culture, and the basement houses practice rooms.

The Life Culture Center is a life SOC facility that serves as a community space where life culture clubs and local artists, the main agents of local culture, can freely meet and communicate, while also supporting residents to freely enjoy cultural life as a cultural hub space.

Moving away from existing resident-use and rental facilities established in other local governments, it plans to gradually develop and present to residents lecture programs and culturally planned programs that activate the community of local active artists and create links among resident-centered life culture clubs.

Starting in June, it will operate a life culture activation support program in connection with the Gangdong Cultural Foundation, and in the upcoming July, it plans to conduct cultural planning lectures to strengthen the cultural capabilities of local residents.

In addition, it will play a significant role as a ‘Gangdong-type complex cultural space’ where local artists and residents can participate together by planning resident-participatory community programs and the Gucheonmyeon-ro festival.

Besides program operation, it will also be provided to residents in the form of general rental. The community room and harmony space on the second floor are designed for residents’ everyday meetings and gatherings, and the practice rooms located in the basement are equipped with spacious areas and some soundproofing facilities to allow local artists and residents to comfortably practice and enjoy various cultural and artistic programs.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “The Gangdong Life Culture Center, as a community activation space, is expected to be the foundation for creating a cultural city Gangdong,” and added, “The district will continue to do its best to expand facilities that residents can easily use to establish a foundation for residents’ cultural enjoyment.”
