On the 9th (local time), IT specialist site MacRumors reported that Apple tagged the WWDC21 keynote video on YouTube with 'M1X'.
Apple specialist YouTuber Max Blazer revealed on his personal Twitter, "I found the 'M1X' tag in the YouTube live broadcast of the June 7 keynote. Jon Prosser was right." He discovered the tags using 'TubeBuddy', a YouTube search engine optimization tool.
There had been many expectations that Apple's WWDC21 would be a stage for unveiling various hardware devices. Famous leaker Jon Prosser also predicted that the 14-inch and 16-inch new MacBook Pro series equipped with the in-house SoC M1 chip would be revealed, but the actual WWDC21 keynote only introduced new operating systems (OS) such as iOS 15. Consumer disappointment grew.
However, since these suspicions have not been confirmed, there is also criticism that this could merely be a marketing tactic. MacRumors stated, "This could suggest that Apple plans to call the soon-to-be-released chip M1X," adding, "Conversely, it could be a strategy to amplify rumors to increase interest in the keynote on YouTube."
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported that new MacBook Pro models equipped with the M1 chip will be unveiled this summer.
