[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Hyundai Engineering and Hyundai Construction have launched educational social contribution activities targeting middle school students in the local community.
On the 9th, Hyundai Engineering announced that, together with Hyundai Construction, the Children and Future Foundation, Jongno-gu Office, and the Jungbu Education Support Office, it will conduct a creative education program related to construction/engineering called "Fun Smart City" special lectures for middle school students in Jongno-gu. To this end, the day before, a "Jongno-gu Creative Education Agreement Ceremony" was held with the attendance of related officials including Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno-gu, Kwon Hyuk-mi, Director of Jungbu Education Support Office, Eom Hong-seok, Executive Director of Hyundai Engineering, and Moon Je-cheol, Executive Director of Hyundai Construction.
The "Fun Smart City" special lectures are a creative convergence education program that leverages the companies' expertise, targeting about 500 middle school students in Jongno-gu, covering ▲ introduction to the construction industry ▲ smart city ▲ smart construction technology ▲ future city planning and production practice. The lectures are scheduled to be held in three sessions in early July.
Based on a basic understanding of the construction industry, students will experience cutting-edge construction technologies such as "smart city" and "smart construction technology," and have the opportunity to plan and implement their own smart city. This is evaluated as a chance for participating students to also consider their own career paths.
Instructors will be employees with specialized knowledge in various fields of the construction/engineering industry working at Hyundai Engineering and Hyundai Construction, providing easy-to-understand and engaging student-led lectures. They plan to communicate with students through know-how gained from actual work and vivid episodes from domestic and overseas construction sites.
A Hyundai Engineering official said, "Through this 'Fun Smart City' special lecture, we hope that students who will grow into future industry leaders will develop more interest in the construction industry and that it will help them in selecting their respective career paths, even if just a little." He added, "We will continue to prepare various social contribution activities related to the education field so that more people can have opportunities to learn."
