[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation announced on the 8th that it will produce an official commemorative medal honoring Son Heung-min and plans to sell it next month.
The Son Heung-min commemorative medal was planned to honor the achievements of Son Heung-min, who is affiliated with Tottenham Hotspur FC and promotes national prestige in the world of football.
The commemorative medal will be released in two forms: coin and banknote. The design will be handled by the top currency designer in Korea, featuring the image of Son Heung-min and elements symbolizing him.
In particular, the Mint plans to assign a unique serial number to each commemorative medal to enhance its value and reliability.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the commemorative medals will be used for the development of youth soccer in Korea, according to Son Heung-min's wishes.
Ban Jang-sik, president of the Mint, said, “I hope Son Heung-min’s achievements will give pride to Koreans during these difficult times caused by COVID-19,” and added, “We will strive to embody that meaning in the commemorative medal.”
