Recruitment of Students for Yeongdeungpo Village University Courses

2021 Yeongdeungpo Village University Opens... Enrollment Starts from the 7th, Held at YDP Future Lifelong Learning Center... Composed of Essential Liberal Arts Course in Life Studies, Career Development Department, and Democratic Citizenship Department Majors

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is recruiting the first students for the village university course at the YDP Future Lifelong Learning Center, which will open on the 18th.

'Yeongdeungpo Village University' is Yeongdeungpo-gu's representative 'resident-led' lifelong learning program, promoted since 2006 when Yeongdeungpo-gu was first selected as a lifelong learning city designated by the Ministry of Education, aimed at supporting daily learning for local residents and enhancing humanities literacy.

The village university is meaningful not only because residents actively participate in learning, but also because they share knowledge and wisdom through club activities and talent donation, creating a virtuous cycle learning community.

This year, Yeongdeungpo Village University will be held at the 'YDP Future Lifelong Learning Center,' which opens on the 18th. The learning center is a place for lifelong learning for residents, newly remodeled from the former Korea National Open University building, and will begin full operation in July this year.

This year, all students must take the compulsory liberal arts course, and the program is divided into major courses in the Career Development Department and the Democratic Citizenship Department.

The liberal arts course, under the theme 'Newtro Era, Introduction to Life Studies,' consists of six lectures: ▲Nice, My Wonderful Life ▲Exist, Finding the Reason for Existence ▲Worth, Discovering the Value of My Life ▲Tomorrow, Designing a Wonderful Future Vision ▲Real, Strategies to Realize the Vision ▲Opportunity, Seizing the Opportunity Again.

The major course in the Career Development Department offers ▲'Room Corner Side Jobber, One-Person Publishing Class,' where participants can learn publishing know-how from basics of publishing, planning, manuscript writing to marketing ▲'Online Live Class Instructor Training Course (Private Certification Course)' through learning how to set up and use ZOOM and WEBEX.

Another major course in the Democratic Citizenship Department offers ▲'Journey to Find Ourselves,' a program to learn the true role of senior citizens and the meaning of aging through books, movies, and mini talk concerts ▲'Creating a Village Good for Playing! Village Play Activist Training Course,' which guarantees healthy play rights for children and adolescents and creates a Yeongdeungpo-style play culture.

All courses are held at the YDP Future Lifelong Learning Center, and the education period varies depending on the course.
