Aiming for National Designation as a Cultural City in Year, Promoting Preliminary Cultural City Projects
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, which is promoting a preliminary project aiming for national designation as a cultural city next year, announced on the 7th that it will hold an online launching ceremony for ‘Ecocultural Activists’ on the 9th.
The launching ceremony will be held on the 9th at 7 p.m. via the non-face-to-face video conferencing platform Zoom, with about 120 activists recruited so far participating. They will share the city’s cultural city preliminary project and perform a performance for the national designation as a cultural city.
Ecocultural activists can be any citizens interested in the creation of a cultural city. They participate in various fields such as collecting and recording cultural city resources, promotion and marketing, community revitalization, citizen evaluation groups, cultural village chiefs, citizen moderators, and citizen PD groups that produce and implement ideas.
In addition, they play a proactive role in providing ideas and advice for various cultural city projects, collecting citizens’ opinions, reviewing agendas for various cultural city projects, and a certain amount of activity expenses will be paid accordingly.
A representative of the city’s Cultural City Center said, “Since the recruitment of ecocultural activists is an open platform that anyone can participate in, we plan to gradually expand it with the hope that all 290,000 citizens of Suncheon will become ecocultural activists.”
Meanwhile, the city’s cultural city preliminary project defines ecoculture as a cultural methodological value in which the values, philosophy, and processes of an ecological city can be established as a way of life in daily life. With the vision of ‘Suncheon, an Ecocultural City Embracing Gardens,’ it is carrying out various projects where citizens participate and take the lead based on the establishment of cultural city governance, with themes of people, resources, and activities so that 290,000 citizens of Suncheon can practice it in their daily lives.
