Changwon City, First Nationwide Exhibition of Ssireum-Related Artifacts

Special Exhibition on Cheonhajangsa Ssireum Held at Changwon City Masan Museum

The 1st All Joseon Ssireum Championship Trophy

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 7th that, in collaboration with the Korea Ssireum Association, it will hold a special exhibition titled "Giants on the Sandpit, Cheonhajangsa" from the 15th to October 17th.

This special exhibition is the first of its kind by a local government to focus on "Ssireum" and was organized to widely promote Masan Ssireum, which led the heyday of Ssireum in the 1970s to 1990s.

The special exhibition is broadly composed of the history, glory, charm, and revival of Ssireum.

It showcases the history of Ssireum as recorded, stories from Ssireum leaders, and a future blueprint for the revival of Ssireum.

Additionally, through the donation and exhibition of Ssireum memorabilia from notable figures such as Lee Seungsam and Song Songhwa, it shares the importance and value of Ssireum materials and promotes a nationwide donation campaign.

In particular, some of the exhibits in this special exhibition will be unveiled to the public for the first time nationwide.

The trophy from the "1st All Joseon Ssireum Championship" held in 1936 will be loaned and exhibited, introducing it to citizens for the first time.

In connection with the Ssireum special exhibition, various events such as non-face-to-face Ssireum experiences, expert lectures on Ssireum, and Ssireum camps for children and youth are planned.
