[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 7th that it will recruit new villages to participate in the ‘Lively Gayatteul Village Making’ project until the 16th of next month.
The Gayatteul Making project is a resident-led initiative aimed at revitalizing rural village communities and creating livable rural villages by utilizing specialized resources unique to each village.
The city evaluates village development plans established by residents of villages that have completed the Rural Revitalization University course, resident-led small projects, and on-site forums, selects outstanding villages, and supports project costs up to 500 million KRW over two years.
So far, 16 villages have implemented projects such as the Hydrangea Garden in Suan Village, the Train Theme Road in Doksan Village, and the Chojeon Culture Center in Chojeon Village, injecting new vitality into rural villages and establishing the project as an important initiative to enhance rural value.
Park Hyun-woo, Director of the Construction Department, said, “Through the Village Making project, residents themselves are achieving results in developing rural villages. We will do our best to build a hopeful city where people want to live by continuously discovering projects that improve the rural living environment and increase income.”
