264 Businesses Subject to Gathering Ban, 264 Million KRW Total, 1 Million KRW Per Business
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeonnam announced on the 7th that it plans to provide disaster relief funds of 1 million KRW to businesses subject to an 11-day closure administrative order from May 13 to 23, in order to support entertainment establishments economically affected by the elevation of social distancing to Level 2 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The disaster relief fund recipients include 264 establishments (222 entertainment bars, 35 karaoke bars, 1 colatec, and 6 holdem pubs) that did not operate due to the closure administrative order.
The city plans to distribute a total of 264 million KRW, 1 million KRW per establishment, starting from June 11, and businesses penalized for violating social distancing regulations will be excluded from receiving the disaster relief funds.
The city will continue to strengthen guidance and enforcement of mandatory compliance with Gwangyang City's social distancing quarantine rules, and will strictly respond, including filing complaints, if violations are detected.
A city official stated, "The disaster relief funds will be given to business owners who faithfully complied with the administrative closure order and diligently practiced COVID-19 prevention during the closure period," adding, "We hope the disaster relief funds provide some support and comfort to the businesses affected by the closure."
