[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The MNU National University Promotion Project Group (Director Lee Hyung-jae) at Mokpo National University (President Park Min-seo) announced on the 7th that it visited Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School on the 4th and held the 'Visiting and Inviting Laboratory Program' for 65 students from grades 1 to 3.

The 'Visiting and Inviting Laboratory' of Mokpo National University is a project aimed at giving back to the local community in knowledge and learning by visiting or inviting students from middle and high schools in island and rural areas to explore careers and majors. This year, the fifth laboratory was held at Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School.

Mokpo Hyein Girls' Middle School, which was visited this time, operates after-school clubs that students voluntarily participate in outside of regular classes. The students who participated in this laboratory were members of the science club, showing strong willingness to participate and high concentration in the experimental classes.

This program was conducted in connection with the secondary education curriculum under the themes of 'Principles of Color Printing (Physics)', 'Find the King of Vitamin C (Chemistry)', and 'Understanding Living Organisms through Chromosome Observation (Biology)'. It involved experiments that are introduced in textbooks but difficult to perform in the secondary education curriculum.

A first-year student who participated in the physics experiment said, "I learned that printing, which usually takes 10 seconds, involves so many processes," and added, "Attaching codes to colors was very interesting."

Director Lee Hyung-jae said, "The Visiting and Inviting Laboratory was selected as an excellent case of the National University Promotion Project in 2020. Due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, we had to proceed cautiously according to the high school circumstances. However, with the smooth cooperation of the Jeollanam-do Office of Education and local high schools, we are very pleased to hold the fifth laboratory at Hyein Girls' Middle School this year. Through this opportunity, we will continue to maintain solidarity with the region and strive to promote public education."
