Gochang-gun Holds the 66th Anniversary Memorial Day Ceremony

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] On the 7th, Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced that it held the ‘66th Memorial Day Ceremony’ on the 6th at the Chung-hon Tower Square to pray for the souls of the patriotic martyrs and war heroes and to honor their noble spirit of patriotism.

The event, attended by County Governor Yoo Ki-sang, Chairman of the Gochang County Council Choi In-gyu, and others, was held in a simplified manner in accordance with social distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by a moment of silence at 10 a.m. to the sound of a siren, then flower offerings and incense burning. This was followed by visits to the 6.25 and Vietnam War Veterans Monument, the Freedom Peace Truth Tower within Gochang High School, and the 6.25 Veterans Memorial.

Governor Yoo Ki-sang said, “Although the event was scaled down to prioritize the health of the residents and prevent COVID-19 infection, we will engrave the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs and war heroes and the loyalty of the national merit recipients in our hearts. We will not forget the dedication of the national merit recipients and will strive to honor the patriotic martyrs and national merit recipients.”
