"Yunronambul" vs "Joronambul" Yoon's Mother-in-Law Remarks... Citizens' Reactions [On-site Video]

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon, PD Yoon Jin-geun] "Isn't this just covering for the in-laws!", "Are they harassing Prosecutor General Yoon again?"

Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol recently met with members of the People Power Party and actively clarified suspicions related to his in-laws, prompting immediate criticism from the Democratic Party of Korea.

On the 26th, People Power Party lawmaker Jeong Jin-seok, who met with him, conveyed that Yoon emphasized, "My mother-in-law has been defrauded before, but she has never caused even a single 10-won loss to anyone." The Democratic Party criticized Yoon's claim as hypocritical, coining the term "Yoon-ro-nam-bul" (a play on "naero-nam-bul," meaning double standards). This is also interpreted as a counterattack against the opposition's past criticism of former Minister Cho Kuk's allegations, which they called "Jo-ro-nam-bul."

Public reactions to the Democratic Party's criticism and former Prosecutor General Yoon's stance are divided. Citizens met at the plaza in front of Seoul Station on the 4th expressed views that denying the allegations against his mother-in-law is inappropriate, while others felt the ruling party's criticism was excessive.

A man in his 50s, identified as office worker A residing in Gyeonggi Province, pointed out that Yoon's remarks were inappropriate. He said, "Since he was the head of a law enforcement agency, he must take responsibility for what he said," and criticized, "If former Prosecutor General Yoon is entering politics, he should start his political activities clearly and fairly."

Another citizen in his 60s, B, said, "The protection of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's mother-in-law is a very ridiculous story," and raised his voice, "It is unreasonable for a former Prosecutor General to express that he cannot accept the prosecution's indictment at all." He added, "The term 'Yoon-ro-nam-bul' has some validity."

There are also opinions that the ruling party's criticism is not justified. One citizen said, "The law requires that anyone who has done wrong should be investigated and punished if necessary," but also criticized, "However, former Prosecutor General Yoon was oppressed during his tenure."
