Foreigners Net Sold Over 10 Trillion Won of Domestic Stocks Last Month

Foreigners Net Sold Over 10 Trillion Won of Domestic Stocks Last Month


The Financial Supervisory Service announced on the 7th that foreign investors net sold 10.167 trillion won worth of domestic listed stocks last month, reducing foreign-held stocks by 2.3 trillion won to 820.02 trillion won compared to the previous month. The foreign ownership ratio in the domestic stock market was 30.1%, down from 30.8% in the previous month.


Foreign investors sold about 9.726 trillion won worth of stocks on the KOSPI last month, and the net selling amount on the KOSDAQ was 440 billion won.


In the Asia region, they net purchased about 200 billion won, while in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, they net purchased approximately 6.4 trillion won, 2.6 trillion won, and 500 billion won respectively.


The holding proportions were led by the United States with 336.4 trillion won, accounting for 41.0% of the total foreign holdings, followed by Europe (255.1 trillion won, 31.1%), Asia (105.3 trillion won, 12.8%), and the Middle East (30.3 trillion won, 3.7%).


During the same period, foreign investors' net investment in listed bonds amounted to 5.516 trillion won. Foreign investors net purchased 10.189 trillion won worth of listed bonds last month and redeemed 4.673 trillion won upon maturity. As of last month, the foreign share of domestic bonds was 179.1 trillion won, an increase of 5.2 trillion won from the previous month, marking the largest scale since January of this year.


The total amount of foreign holdings in listed stocks and bonds was recorded at 999.3 trillion won.
