[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 3rd, Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced that it is strengthening publicity on the safe use of pesticides targeting farms in accordance with the Positive List System (PLS) for pesticide residue management.
The city produced and distributed 1,500 copies of three types of printed promotional materials with the 2021 PLS standards, and for vulnerable farms such as elderly farmers and small-scale farms, it visits them directly to explain the system and provide consulting and related information to enable implementation.
Through this consulting, it is expected to contribute to increasing farm income by preventing the occurrence of non-compliant agricultural products and establishing an image that Miryang's agricultural products are always produced safely, thereby securing consumer trust.
Standards for safe pesticide use and various promotional materials can be obtained through the Miryang Agricultural Technology Center, item-specific associations, and farming groups, and can also be checked on the Rural Development Administration's Pesticide Safety Information System.
Cheon Seong-woo, head of the Livestock Technology Division, said, “We will create an image that Miryang's agricultural products can be trusted anytime and anywhere through education and publicity so that all farms implement the PLS system.”
