[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] North Korea's external propaganda media has criticized the trilateral multinational joint air force exercise 'Red Flag' by South Korea, the United States, and Japan, one week ahead of the event.
On the 3rd, Meori published an article titled "Madness that knows no bounds," criticizing South Korea's military participation in Red Flag, stating, "The South Korean military is crazed, acting as the vanguard for the U.S.'s invasion of North Korea and the realization of the Indo-Pacific strategy, recklessly disregarding all risks."
The Red Flag exercise will be held from the 10th to the 25th of this month at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, USA. South Korea has participated in the exercise since 2013. This time, after three years, it plans to send F-15K fighters and transport aircraft to participate in the fighter training.
The media described Red Flag as "the world's largest joint air force exercise, whose aggressive and invasive nature is already well known," and claimed, "The South Korean military's decision to participate in such war exercises means they are further clinging to military confrontation with their own people."
It also pointed out that South Korea has conducted 153 joint exercises even amid COVID-19, and held combined South Korea-U.S. exercises as recently as March this year. It raised its voice, saying, "The South Korean military's war exercise frenzy, which does not subside even amid a malignant epidemic, is an open challenge to the people's desire for peace."
The media also expressed vigilance regarding the security cooperation among South Korea, the United States, and Japan.
It criticized, "What is particularly serious is that this exercise is the first joint training conducted after the South Korea-U.S. Foreign and Defense Ministers' Meeting emphasized 'trilateral security cooperation,' and even a child knows that the increasingly deepening 'trilateral security cooperation' is primarily aimed at our Republic."
