[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Three companies located in Gyeongnam Province have been finally selected as the first designated 'Hydrogen Specialized Companies' by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.


Hydrogen specialized companies are those that meet certain criteria regarding the proportion of sales revenue related to hydrogen business or the proportion of investment in research and development, according to the "Act on the Promotion of Hydrogen Economy and Hydrogen Safety Management" (Hydrogen Act).


On the 1st, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy designated a total of 11 hydrogen specialized companies for the first time. Among them, three companies located in Gyeongnam Province?Beomhan Fuel Cell (Changwon), EM Solution (Changwon), and Hi-Air Korea (Gimhae)?were selected.


Beomhan Fuel Cell, selected in the 'fuel cell sector,' is a company that has succeeded in independently manufacturing hydrogen fuel cells for naval vessels and construction machinery, as well as city gas-type hydrogen fuel cell modules.


Hi-Air Korea is the largest domestic ship refrigeration and air conditioning design and manufacturing company and possesses technology related to key fuel cell components.


EM Solution, selected in the 'charging sector,' is a company that owns water electrolysis facilities and manufactures and supplies package-type equipment related to hydrogen charging station construction.


Currently, the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance, the dedicated institution for hydrogen industry promotion, is accepting applications for hydrogen specialized companies and plans to continuously designate additional companies in the future.


Meanwhile, the government plans to nurture 1,000 hydrogen specialized companies by 2040 and support their growth into world-leading companies through specialized support programs for the hydrogen industry.
