BBQ's Delivery and Takeout Specialty Store 'BSK' Surpasses 300 Locations in One Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Genesis BBQ announced on the 3rd that its delivery and takeout specialized store, BSK (BBQ Smart Kitchen), surpassed 300 store openings within one year of launch.

BBQ introduced the delivery and takeout specialized store BSK in June last year. BSK achieved 100 store openings within six months of its official launch, opened its 200th store last March, and surpassed 300 stores in just over a year.

BSK, which can be started with a small capital of around 50 million KRW, operates as a small-sized store specializing only in delivery and takeout without dine-in (hall) customers. It is highly efficient in terms of store operation and management, and offers a wide range of location options, resulting in lower initial investment and fixed cost burdens.

More than half of the families (franchise owners) who opened BSK stores are in their 20s and 30s. Even young people without experience are successfully settling in the startup market through BBQ’s systematic education system, including Chicken University, and startup support programs.

Meanwhile, BBQ has also established a 1% ultra-low interest loan program (up to 50 million KRW per store) for the 20s and 30s generation aspiring to start a business through a business agreement with Hana Bank. So far, more than 100 young people have received support in preparing initial startup funds for opening BSK stores through Hana Bank’s franchise loan.

A BBQ official stated, “As BSK approaches its first anniversary, the cumulative number of contracts has exceeded 450, continuously attracting interest from prospective entrepreneurs,” and added, “We will continue to actively support young people struggling with severe employment difficulties due to COVID-19 to find new breakthroughs through the BSK startup model.”
