[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] SPC Samlip, a subsidiary of SPC Group, has declared 'ESG Management' and is embarking on creating a healthy and sustainable food culture.
SPC Samlip announced on the 3rd that it held the 'Customer-Friendly ESG Management Commitment Day' event ahead of World Environment Day and unveiled its 'Good For All' initiative focusing on four key areas: environment, health, society, and trust.
SPC Samlip aims to become a global great food company by achieving goals such as ▲reducing carbon and waste emissions by 20% by 2030 (compared to 2020) ▲expanding product lines considering consumer health and nutrition ▲strengthening community coexistence and partnerships with suppliers ▲enhancing management transparency.
To this end, SPC Samlip plans to incorporate ESG elements into its corporate strategy, systematically manage goals and performance, and establish ESG management as part of its corporate culture.
First, it will internalize environmental management by strengthening investments in energy-efficient and waste reduction facilities at manufacturing plants and introducing eco-friendly packaging for product packaging. In the second half of this year, it will launch meat-free bakery products using items such as 'Just Egg' (plant-based egg).
It will also expand various activities that contribute to consumers and society through healthy foods. SPC Samlip will take the lead in developing products using domestic agricultural products and plans to collaborate with related startups to expand its healthy product lines. Additionally, it will support CCM certification for partners and engage in win-win activities such as joint energy projects.
To enhance management transparency and secure ESG management execution capabilities, SPC Samlip launched an ESG Council in May and plans to establish an ESG Committee under the board of directors in August this year.
