[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Corporation Seonamhae Branch (Branch Manager Seong Sang-bong, hereinafter referred to as the branch) announced on the 3rd that it conducted the "Clean Port, Port You Want to Visit Again" campaign at Songdo Port in Sinan-gun, designated as a national fishing port in 2019, to commemorate the 26th Sea Day on the 31st of last month, aiming to create a pleasant fishing port environment and raise public awareness about its protection.

In this campaign, marking its 32nd year, the branch supported the safe navigation of fishing vessels using Songdo Port by retrieving floating and submerged waste (such as abandoned fishing nets and gear) within the fishing port waters together with the fishing port management vessel "Fishing Port West Sea No. 5." Additionally, garbage collection was carried out mainly around the small vessel wharf, including the fishing port land area and its hinterland.

Subsequently, the branch visited the Bong-ri Fishing Village Cooperative (Chief Kim Dong-geun) at Songdo Port in Sinan-gun, delivering 500 masks and hand sanitizers as quarantine supplies, and promoted the significance of Sea Day and this campaign, taking the lead in realizing social value.

Although this campaign was usually conducted with the participation of fishing village residents and marine fisheries officials, due to the spread of COVID-19, it was held with a minimal number of attendees and was also produced as a video. Detailed information can be found on the "Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Corporation" and "Fishing Port Story" YouTube channels.

A branch official stated, "By holding this campaign at Songdo Port in Sinan-gun, where 70% of domestic small shrimp are distributed, we hope it helped improve residents' awareness of creating a clean fishing port," adding, "We will continue to strive to establish Songdo Port as a place where tourists want to come and visit again."
