Safe Moisturizing Care for Delicate Baby Skin During June Heat

Safe Moisturizing Care for Delicate Baby Skin During June Heat

June marks the beginning of the intense heat. The hot and humid summer season is especially challenging for babies with higher basal body temperatures.

Babies are known to have weaker sweat gland function and poorer temperature regulation compared to adults, causing them to sweat more. The skin, losing moisture due to excessive sweating, can develop various issues such as heat rash, so it is important to consistently moisturize with baby-specific lotions.

A representative from Germany’s No.1 dermocosmetic brand Sebamed stated, “If you suddenly feel small bumps or notice itching that leads to scratching, heat rash may be suspected. Heat rash often occurs when sweat pores are blocked and sweat cannot be properly released. To prevent heat rash, it is better to choose loose-fitting clothes rather than tight ones. Dressing babies in cotton clothes that absorb sweat well and maintaining a well-ventilated environment is recommended. Scratching is prohibited due to the risk of secondary infection. Especially for babies, even if they scratch, their nails should be trimmed short to minimize irritation.”

They continued, “When heat rash occurs, it is important to take a lukewarm shower to clean the skin and then soothe and hydrate it with moisturizing products. Sebamed’s ‘Calendula Baby Body Lotion’ features a pH 5.5 formula similar to healthy skin and contains calendula extract and panthenol. Although it is a baby product, it is also recommended for adults with dry or sensitive skin. The soft cream texture spreads well and provides a moist feeling upon application. It is quickly absorbed, making it perfect for daily care.”

Meanwhile, Sebamed, recently acquired by TS Trillion, the manufacturer of TS Shampoo, Korea’s No.1 shampoo brand, is a brand launched by the German Sebapharma Group and holds the No.1 market share in Germany. Sebamed offers low-irritation products with a pH of 5.5 similar to healthy skin and exports to 126 countries worldwide. In Korea, it is available not only at duty-free shops and department stores but also at large marts such as Costco, E-Mart, and Lotte Mart, pharmacies, and major H&B stores like Olive Young and LOHB’s.

Its representative products include the ‘Baby Lotion’ for delicate baby skin, the ‘Calendula Baby Care 3-piece Set’ for hydration and skin soothing, the all-in-one cleansing soap ‘Classic Cleansing Bar’ that leaves skin moist without tightness, and the all-in-one wash ‘Olive Face and Body Wash’ enriched with the moisture of olives.
