[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Department of Nursing at Dongseo University has given wings to its practical training system. By securing major government support projects and expanding the simulation center, practical training will be strengthened more systematically.
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) announced on the 2nd that its university nursing department was selected as an executing institution for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘2021 Nursing College Practical Training Support Project.’
The Nursing College Practical Training Support Project is a financial support initiative aimed at enhancing clinical practice and practical training for nursing students to improve new nurses’ adaptability in hospital settings and upgrade the quality of medical care.
The Department of Nursing at Dongseo University was selected as an educational-type executing institution. It will receive 200 million KRW to expand practical training infrastructure, including the simulation center.
Through this project selection, the level of practical training for nursing students will be greatly improved, and the medical network is expected to be revitalized by sharing simulation programs and curricula with local community medical institutions.
The Department of Nursing at Dongseo University is the only one in the southeastern region to be recognized and operate the BLS (Basic Life Support) center and KALS (Korean Advanced Life Support) center certified by the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Professor Park Jeong-ha, head of the Department of Nursing, said, “Being selected for the practical training support project recognizes the excellence of the nursing department’s curriculum,” adding, “It is like giving wings to the highest level of nurse training education.”
