Good Neighbors-Gokseong Police Station Conduct 'Revisiting Children in Media' Campaign

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Good Neighbors Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters announced on the 1st that it conducted the ‘Revisiting Children in Media’ campaign to enhance sensitivity to children's rights in media, in collaboration with Gokseong Police Station.

On this day, Good Neighbors Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters raised awareness about the negative use of terms referring to children in media such as ‘~rini, choding, jaemini’ and held a session to directly hear the voices of the children themselves.

The ‘Revisiting Children in Media’ campaign is conducted offline at 52 Good Neighbors branches nationwide and can be participated in through an online page.

Starting with this campaign, Good Neighbors will carry out the ‘Media Children’s Rights Advocacy Project’ to ensure that children's rights are protected and promoted within the media.

Various activities will be developed so that all children have equal and sufficient access within the media environment and are protected from various forms of violence.

When using words related to children, it encourages reconsideration from the children’s perspective, and requests the public to report cases of children's rights violations experienced through media exposure.

Bae Junyeol, head of Good Neighbors Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, said, “It is time to rethink expressions carelessly used about children in media from the children’s perspective. We will actively carry out advocacy activities to protect children’s rights in media.”

Kim Namhee, chief of Gokseong Police Station, stated, “Gokseong Police Station will also strive to ensure that children’s rights are protected in media.”
