Gwangyang City Selected for 'COMPAS Data Analysis Support Project' for 2 Consecutive Years


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeonnam announced on the 31st that it has been selected for the 'COMPAS Data Analysis Support Project' for two consecutive years.


The 'COMPAS Data Analysis Support Project' is a program supported by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation to establish data-driven policies and solve urban problems. This year, 14 locations nationwide applied, and four institutions including Gwangyang, Seoul, and Nam-gu, Busan were selected as first half projects.


The selected project this time is the AI-based recyclable automatic collection machine and smart clean shelter optimal location analysis project, which will be promoted in connection with the '2021 Smart Town Challenge Main Project,' expected to save a budget of 200 million won.


Lee Ju-ok, Director of the Information and Communication Department, said, "Being selected for the 'COMPAS Data Analysis Support Project' for two consecutive years has enabled budget savings and analysis of the Smart Town Challenge project," adding, "We plan to expand the COMPAS Data Analysis Support Project in collaboration with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation to solve city administration issues in the future."


Last year, Gwangyang City also saved 70 million won in budget through three COMPAS Data Analysis Support Projects, including optimal locations for electric vehicle charging stations, green coverage rate, and POSCO commuting traffic analysis.
