[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon Cultural Foundation (Chairman Heo Seok) announced on the 28th that it will hold a special exhibition titled "Mask, Connecting Hope" as part of the regional representative art festival "2021 Hanggun-e Jeulgineun Agora Suncheon" at the South Gate site of Suncheon Bueopseong Fortress Square until the 6th of next month.
This special exhibition, under the theme "#Hope, A New Beginning," displays 1,600 artworks created by over 1,600 children and community cultural participants. These works use masks, which have become essential due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, to express the hope that the daily lives of Suncheon citizens will quickly recover.
Through 1,600 mask artworks that showcase individual personalities, the exhibition aims to emphasize the importance of mask-wearing in the COVID era and symbolically elevate the global crisis. It is expected to serve as an opportunity to enhance the creativity and artistic capabilities of children and Suncheon community cultural participants.
A representative of the Suncheon Cultural Foundation said, "Through the special exhibition 'Mask, Connecting Hope' of Agora Suncheon, we hope Suncheon becomes a cultural city where diverse community cultures blend into daily life with citizens." They added, "We hope this delivers a warm message of comfort to all citizens struggling due to COVID."
Agora Suncheon is the only regional representative performing arts festival nationwide where local cultural artists participate extensively and can engage in continuous year-round activities. It has been ongoing for nine years to establish a foundation for citizens to participate in cultural arts in their daily lives and to broaden the scope of cultural appreciation.
