You Can Now Hide 'Likes' Counts on Instagram and Facebook

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Instagram and Facebook are providing a 'hide likes' feature.

On the 27th, Instagram announced that users will be able to choose to hide the number of 'likes' on all their posts or prevent others from seeing the 'likes' count on their posts through an update.

Users can hide the number of 'likes' and video views on other users' posts. By accessing 'Settings' within the app, then selecting the 'Posts' tab under 'Privacy', users can choose the 'Hide Likes and View Counts' option.

To prevent others from seeing the number of 'likes' on posts they upload, users can click 'Advanced Settings' at the bottom when uploading a post and select 'Hide Likes and View Counts on This Post'. When this option is selected, other users will see 'Liked by 00 and others' without the number of likes being displayed in their feed.

Photos or videos already uploaded can also be changed by pressing the 'three dots' button at the top of the post. Regardless of the option selected, users can always check the number of 'likes' on their own posts.

Along with Instagram, Facebook is expected to release an option within the next few weeks to hide the count of reactions such as 'likes' and 'cheers' on both the user's and others' posts.

Meanwhile, Instagram previously conducted an experiment in 2019 with some accounts in 12 countries including Korea to hide the number of 'likes' in order to create an environment where users can focus on self-expression.
