If Masks Cause Pimples and Acne... Dong-A Pharmaceutical's 'Acnon Cream'

If Masks Cause Pimples and Acne... Dong-A Pharmaceutical's 'Acnon Cream' Donga Pharmaceutical 'Acnon Cream' (Photo by Donga Pharmaceutical)

[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] As mask-wearing has become routine due to COVID-19, more people are complaining about pimples and acne around the mouth and chin areas. This is because wearing a mask raises the skin temperature, increasing sebum production. Additionally, friction caused when putting on and taking off the mask can irritate the skin, leading to pimples or acne.

To prevent such skin troubles, it is important not to touch the masked area with your hands and to wash your face properly. Applying pimple and acne treatments is also recommended.

‘Aeknon Cream,’ introduced by Dong-A Pharmaceutical, is a high-concentration pimple and acne treatment whose name is a combination of ‘Acne’ and ‘Non,’ meaning to eliminate acne.

Its main ingredients are ibuprofen piconol, which has anti-inflammatory effects and inhibits the production of lipase by acne bacteria, and isopropyl methylphenol, which has antibacterial action and suppresses the growth of acne bacteria. Notably, the isopropyl methylphenol content is about three times higher than that of conventional treatments.

Aeknon Cream is an over-the-counter drug available at pharmacies. After washing your face, apply an appropriate amount to the affected area several times a day.
