Site Visit for Benchmarking Songpa-gu Jangji-dong Resource Circulation Park as an Eco-friendly and Efficient Resource Recycling Comprehensive Park-type Waste Facility
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seocho Future Policy Research Group, a council member research organization of Seocho District Council (Chairman Gwangmin Ko), visited the Songpa District Resource Circulation Park located in Jangji-dong, Songpa District on the 20th.
The Resource Circulation Park in Jangji-dong, Songpa District, is a park-type comprehensive waste facility that enables eco-friendly waste treatment and efficient resource recycling.
The on-site visit by the Seocho Future Policy Research Group of Seocho District Council was conducted as part of research to improve Seocho District policies by benchmarking excellent best practices from other districts.
At the site, Chairman Gwangmin Ko, Councilor Hyunsook Lee, Councilor Iktae Kim, and Councilor Kyunghee Jeon visited and listened to explanations from officials about facility operations and current issues, followed by a Q&A session.
Chairman Gwangmin Ko of the Seocho Future Policy Research Group said, “Today, by visiting the Songpa District Resource Circulation Park adjacent to Seocho District, I was able to directly see and feel how all waste treatment processes, except incineration of food waste, recyclables, and large household waste within Songpa District, are carried out in one place, turning waste into resources. In particular, it was remarkable that the waste treatment facility, which was once a representative NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) facility, is now comfortably visited by residents and used as a learning center where they can appreciate the importance of the environment and resources.”
He added, “With the explosive increase in disposable product use due to the surge in delivery services during COVID-19, I believe efforts to reduce such use should start from public institutions. The Seocho Future Policy Research Group will also strive to utilize what we learned and felt today at the Resource Circulation Park to enhance the welfare of Seocho residents.”
