[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam, held a 'Smart City Planning Project Kick-off Meeting' at City Hall on the 20th, attended by Jinju Mayor Jo Gyu-il, advisory committee members, and related department officials.

This project aims to establish a mid- to long-term smart city development plan until 2026 by systematically and efficiently promoting a smart city integrated with future advanced technologies and discovering customized specialized strategies for the city.

Through this project, the city plans to establish strategies such as setting the smart city vision and mid- to long-term development roadmap, defining the Jinju-type specialized smart city promotion stages, fostering smart future industries, and building smart-based urban infrastructure, as well as preparing the work system for various smart city construction projects and a foundation for sustainable urban management.

In particular, the plan includes discovering new growth engines based on future industries, strengthening competitiveness in the 4th industrial revolution, creating jobs, and improving citizens' quality of life and creating an optimal urban environment through building an advanced city applying smart technologies and solving urban problems.

This project will be finalized after receiving approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport through various opinion-gathering processes such as expert consultations, citizen public hearings, and various idea contests based on an analysis of the current urban status.

Mayor Jo stated, "It is most important to develop an advanced industrial base leading the future based on the cultural and artistic history of the thousand-year-old city of Jinju and to develop it into a smart city convenient for citizens," adding, "We will proceed without delay to develop into a leading city in the southern region based on this smart city development strategy."
