[Asia Economy Reporter Joesulgina] The 'Galaxy Watch4,' expected to be the first to feature the integrated wearable operating system (OS) developed by Samsung Electronics and Google, is reported to retain the rotating bezel design like its predecessor, but with a thinner bezel. There are also speculations that it will include a walkie-talkie function for sending and receiving short messages.

IT specialist media SamMobile and others reported this on the 19th (local time), citing IT tipster Ice Universe. Ice Universe had previously predicted the official announcement of the wearable alliance between Samsung Electronics and Google by stating, "Samsung Electronics' next smartwatch will run on Android."

According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy Watch4, set to be released in the second half of the year, is expected to be equipped with the so-called 'Tizen Wear OS,' which combines the strengths of Samsung Electronics' proprietary wearable OS 'Tizen' and Google's 'Wear OS.'

Additionally, the Galaxy Watch4 will support a new 5nm processor and flat 2D glass instead of 2.5D. In terms of design, Ice Universe added that the bezel will be narrower and the frame texture improved. The frame is presumed to be made of titanium alloy.

SamMobile reported that the Galaxy Watch4 will be released in three versions with the codenames Wise, Fresh, and Lucky. Wise is known for its classic design featuring a rotating bezel. The media also added that the Galaxy Watch4 will include a walkie-talkie function, allowing it to be used like a walkie-talkie.

Samsung Electronics' new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch Active4, are expected to be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event around August, alongside new smartphones including foldables. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, as of the fourth quarter of last year, the global smartwatch market share ranked Apple first with 40%, followed by Samsung Electronics with 10%.
