[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] The National Pension Service announced on the 19th that it will publish the book "A New Path of ESG with the National Pension" and hold the "ESG Plus Forum" event on the 21st at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido.
This book explains the concepts of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management and investment, from their history and recent trends to the National Pension Service's ESG investment strategies and directions, in a way that the general public can easily understand.
The National Pension Service explained that this "comprehensive ESG guidebook," which covers ESG-related theories and cases, was directly written by Chairman Kim Yong-jin and related department staff to vividly convey the National Pension Service's stance and voices from the field.
Along with the publication of the book, the National Pension Service will hold a forum event to discuss the role of the National Pension Service in ESG investment and the development direction of Korean-style ESG with CEOs from the financial sector and companies.
The forum will proceed with Chairman Kim's presentation, a report from the National Pension Service on "Activation of Responsible Investment and ESG Investment Directions," and a panel discussion on major ESG issues.
In his presentation, Chairman Kim is expected to state, "The expansion of the National Pension Service's ESG investment aligns with the fundamental mission of the Service as the guardian of the nation's retirement assets by enhancing long-term returns and safety," and "We will more faithfully carry out responsible investment, share the National Pension Service's ESG experience and capabilities, and revitalize Korea's ESG ecosystem."
Additionally, a discussion will be held with Professor Park Jin of the Korea Development Institute (KDI) as the chair, along with Han Soo-hee, CEO of Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC), Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, Lee Chang-gu, CEO of Shinhan Asset Management, Na Seok-kwon, Director of the Social Value Research Institute, and Ryu Young-jae, CEO of Sustainvest.
