President Moon: "May Buddha's Wisdom and Compassion Fill the Whole World"

On Buddha's Birthday, SNS Message... "Our Hearts Are Not Different"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 19th, President Moon Jae-in posted on social media (SNS) to mark 'Buddha's Birthday,' stating, "On Buddha's Birthday, I pray that Buddha's wisdom and compassion fill the entire world."

President Moon said, "Our hearts are not different from each other." He added, "I deeply thank the monks and Buddhists who embrace those in need with a clear heart like the sound of wind chimes at the edge of the eaves."

President Moon said, "Last year, the Lotus Lantern Festival was registered as a 'UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,' which was a great honor. I feel a strong desire to congratulate and take pride in it," and added, "However, the Buddhist community has decided to cancel the lantern parade again this year and hold the celebration online."

President Moon added, "While suspending Dharma meetings and events for quarantine purposes, the monks opened the temple gates wide. They provided free temple stays to medical staff, quarantine workers, the travel industry, small business owners, and cultural artists, offering peace and rest."

President Moon said, "I express my respect for the hearts that stand with the community. Buddha must also be smiling with the El-hwa smile at the practice of compassion that shows our hearts are not different from each other."

President Moon emphasized, "The 'Lanterns of Hope and Healing' that shine to wish for a happy world brightly connect and illuminate our hearts and the world. With that vow, we will overcome COVID-19."
