[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education commemorated the victims of the democratization movement through events such as eating jumeokbap (rice balls) on the 41st anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement.

According to Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 18th, about 500 employees honored the "May Spirit" by having lunch with jumeokbap, a symbol of the resistance community during the May 18 Democratization Movement in 1980, at the office cafeteria.

On the 41st anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement, employees reflected on the true meaning of that day 41 years ago by eating jumeokbap and potatoes together as the cafeteria lunch menu. During the May 18 Democratization Movement, citizens of Gwangju and Jeonnam provinces shared jumeokbap, realizing a peaceful resistance community unprecedented in world history.

Earlier, at 10 a.m., employees held a moment of silent prayer to commemorate the May spirits who fought for democracy in May 1980, accompanied by the instrumental version of the "March for the Beloved".

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education will exhibit 59 outstanding works from the 2nd Jeonnam Youth May Art Contest at the first-floor gallery Eum of the office building until the 21st.
