[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] An active prosecutor has been accused of hiding the fact that he is married while dating the complainant and borrowing money without repaying it.
On the 18th, a post titled "Urgent action demanded against the Ministry of Justice and Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office for covering up the lies and misconduct of a married prosecutor" was uploaded on the Blue House National Petition Board.
The petitioner wrote, "I submitted a petition to the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Criminal Division 1 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office last March," adding, "Prosecutor A from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office trial division, who was in a romantic relationship with me, concealed the fact that he was married for several months, met with me, borrowed several million won, and has not repaid it."
He continued, "I responded to the prosecution investigation by submitting evidence such as credit card statements from dates and a written pledge that Prosecutor A forced me to sign, instructing me not to disclose our relationship."
However, the Criminal Division 1 of the Central District Prosecutors' Office allegedly contacted the petitioner multiple times, suggesting that the petitioner might still have feelings and trying to persuade them to withdraw the petition, the petitioner claimed.
He also criticized, "Even though the Ministry of Justice was informed, it has shown no intention to initiate an inspection."
He further alleged, "When Prosecutor A repeatedly came to my house and contacted me, I complained to the prosecution several times, but the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Criminal Division 1 at the Central District Prosecutors' Office tried to appease me by saying, 'Don't you want compensation for damages?' and 'There is a way to resolve this as Prosecutor A's wife might file a lawsuit.'"
The petitioner stated that they will file a civil lawsuit against Prosecutor A and urged the Ministry of Justice to start an inspection, questioning whether the actions of the Ministry and prosecution align with laws and principles.
The petitioner is known to be a female reporter affiliated with a major media outlet. A prosecution official said, "An investigation is currently underway according to regulations and procedures," adding, "It is difficult to disclose specific details or progress of the matter."
