[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 18th, Chaehyunil, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the ‘41st Anniversary Ceremony of the May 18 Democratic Uprising’ held at Seodaemun Prison History Hall and laid a wreath.

Mayor Chae, along with May 18 Democratic Merit Awardees and Go Gi-pan, Chairman of the Yeongdeungpo District Council, who also attended the ceremony, commemorated the spirits of May and took time to reflect on the May 18 spirit of resistance to protect freedom and democracy.

Mayor Chaehyunil stated, “Remembering the living spirit of ‘Jugeonjaemin (主權在民)’ in the history of democracy, I will work together with the residents to create a better and more open Yeongdeungpo.”
